Sunday, June 1

Interesting tidbits about our hotel (Portofino Bay at Universal Studios)...there is a TV speaker in the bathroom, they really do put mints by our bed when the come to turn down the covers for the night...they also fill our ice bucket, high speed internet is not free (at this fancy of a hotel, they would say "complimentary"), they print your name (and age if you are a child) on your room key - and you can use your room key as "fast pass" at Universal Studios.

I was a bit afraid that last night would be a nightmare with two kids who were extremely exhausted and sleep deprived, but they both slept just great. We started the sad day that begins our journey back home. In many ways, packing up the hotel rooms was a bit harder than the beach house...stuff was scattered everywhere. At the beach house, I actually unpacked, but in the hotel we lived out of suitcases. After we packed up, RJ called the bell hop to get our luggage and they held it for us while we got something to eat. We got on the road by 9:30 and PJ fell asleep by 9:37. He actually fell asleep while we were stopped at a gas station...to fall asleep with no movement means he is really tired. And, he slept all the way until we stopped for lunch (at Cracker Barrel) at 12:30. LJ even fell asleep before lunch...and, of course, Jfer napped as well.

Our destination for today was Tallahassee - which was only 4 hours from Orlando, so we arrived a little after 3:00 and were slightly deflated seeing this Homewood Suites...we've become spoiled by our super-nice accommodations, so nice accommodations seem paltry in comparison. RJ took a little snooze while Jfer and I played with the kids...we were all in a really silly mood, so there was lots of giggling. Around 5:30 we got ready to go out to eat - we went to Macaroni Grill and it was a bad enough experience that I completed an online complaint. After dinner, we drove down to see the capitol building and it was quite a disappointment so far as capitol buildings go...made us long for home. PJ fell asleep on the way back to our hotel and once we got in the door, we got the kids into bed.

Ya know - i have never seen the Fl State Capitol myself. Not missing much apparently.

Who decided a large, let's say questionably shaped, building is the best thing to put directly behind your capitol? Sheesh
