Sharing a Room

LJ and PJ are now sharing LJ's room! R and his brother assembled bunk beds and we put our fabulous queen-sized guest bed on loan to M and B. They have special directions to only use it as a guest bed so that it is not slept in every night...one day, we'll have room for that most-comfy bed again.

The first night went pretty well - I'm actually a bit surprised at how well it went. It was my goal to get them into sharing a room weeeellll before the school year starts so that they can figure out how to leave each other alone and go to sleep! They talked a bit last night and I did have to go sit in there for about 15 minutes to settle them down, but I left the room before they were asleep and they feel asleep soon after. LJ is on top and PJ is on bottom. They both picked out their own quilt and are both rather excited to have more floor space to play.

I was apprehensive about nap time today, but they both slept a little (PJ probably not as long as he would have normally) and they didn't get out of bed until 3:30, so I consider that all good. I have a feeling things will get a bit worse before they settle in for good. The next thing we need to tackle is getting a dresser out of the barn and moving PJ's clothes to their new shared room, but we have time for that. PJ thinks he has 2 rooms right now - one for sleeping and one for his clothes. LJ explained that he only has one room and the other room is for the baby...which caused PJ to ask me when I'm going to get the baby out of my tummy.

I only have 3 more days of summer school and then I'm through until I go back to work after my baby leave...whew! It is hot our there and I'm tired of teaching for 4 hours straight...everyday. I don't know how K-12 teachers do it.
