Rain Rain Stay Away...

The tree mover is scheduled for Wednesday and as of now, no rain in sight. In fact, highs in the mid-70s and lows in the mid-50s are the forecast, so I'm soooo hoping it'll happen this week.

This is exciting news because it has rained every 5 days all winter long. Rain, in general does not depress me, but...we are running out of time and the ground has GOT to dry out enough to transplant some trees we have. We have zero trees in our front yard - there used to be tons there, but they were "water oaks" and they were native to the land - they lived their life and were cut down before we bought the house. So, we've never had trees in our front yard. There are 2 trees next to the garage RJ built that will have to be cut down, but we want to move them instead. This would be costly, but not as costly as buying trees of a much smaller size - and to have "instant tree" in our front yard would be terrific.

We FINALLY found someone with a tree spade - this was not easy to do. For those of you who aren't "in the know" regarding the world of tree moving, I present:

The problem is - we have a winter weather pattern that equals 5 days of dry then 2 days of rain - then repeat. This truck is big and heavy and will sink into the ground and get stuck if the ground is too wet. The guy was supposed to come last Sunday...it POURED rain all day Saturday, so that was a no-go. Then, he was supposed to come Thursday afternoon, but it rained Wednesday night. Wednesday night's rain was not so bad, but the ground was already on the wet side from Saturday's down pour. So, Thursday was a no-go. To have any chance of the trees surviving and thriving, we need to move them while they are dormant - and that time is rapidly dwindling. AUGH!!!!!

This is why I'm particularly pleased by the weather forecast!
