A couple of Saturdays ago - the 12th of February to be exact - we had tickets to go to the Big City to see the Imagination Movers in concert. While I bought the tickets about 6 weeks earlier, we did not tell the boys that we were going...it was to be a surprise! Of course, things did not go as I imagined they would...
Earlier that week, Paul had become a real bear. He was crying about EVERYTHING. I'm not exaggerating. The night before the concert, he came into our room and asked to sleep with us (when they are sick, this happens some) and Richard said, "Here, get under the covers" and Paul started HOWLING. ??? It was becoming apparent to us that he was having trouble hearing. Meanwhile, Luke had a fever Thursday night and Friday. So, Saturday morning, Richard went on a quest to find a clinic that didn't have a crazy-long wait (why do these things always happen on the weekend?). He got to a dr. and they both had ear infections in both ears! One of Paul's ears was very swollen and red. They both got prescriptions for antibiotics...we had the tickets - we had to go! I "Motrined" them up and off we went.
The concert was great - very kid-oriented. Per usual, Paul was most interested in getting "cotton" - cotton candy and Luke was coveting the strobe-light sticks he saw in the hands of other Mover's Fans. Richard, being the nice Daddy that he is, obliged them both AND bought them each a t-shirt. They were happy. We were treated to the added surprise...Choo Choo Soul was the opening act. If you have watched the Disney Chanel - now re-branded as Disney Jr., then you know who Choo Choo Soul is. The kids were excited and Genevieve is taller than I thought she was ;-)
It was finally time for the Imagination Movers!!!! They were just like they are on TV. In fact, Luke wanted to know if this was "Live"...so we had an explanation of what Live means for shows on TV vs. life. Throughout the concert, various movers came up and down the aisles, so we got to see them up close...the kids got high-fives, etc. Ruth was mesmerized the entire time! After the concert, Choo Choo Soul was in the lobby, so we posed for pictures with Genevieve and DC...several times. Richard also bought the boys some Wobble Goggles. Now, they can dress up as Dave - since Aunt Mary already sent them the Red Hat - or Scott...since they have Wobble Goggles. Trust me when I tell you, Paul has dressed up many many many times since!
When we finally left the concert hall, we ate at the Hard Rock Cafe and then started the trek home. The kids were asleep before we hit the freeway and slept the whole way home!
